Wray Produce Show 2004

- until we all have broadband -
I have to make the photos very small or this page won't load for ages in your browsers)

The annual show was well supported and people brought in their superb fruit, vegetables, baking, flowers and crafts to the village institute. Judging took place and when it was found that a MAN had beaten all the village ladies in the baking section and won the cup we knew there would be trouble. Bob the baker knew that he would be in trouble too, as he was last seen scarpering out of the institute before the photographer arrived to take the shots of the cup presentations. Nevertheless there are photos here of most of the other winners, including the youngest who hid the cup between his legs when the photographer approached him!

The Best in Show trophy went to this superb basket
of vegetables grown by Chris Stafford

The Hunting/shooting/fishing trophy went to a wooden gadget designed to catch worms. I know this is the scarecrow village and home of the maggot races but this is bordering on the edges of madness...
this photo shows John, proudly holding his wormer and receiving the trophy from enery.

This is David, Lord of the flowers

Mary,
Queen of
Chocolate
Cakes

- bet Bob makes one of those too
next year...

Our other David, Lord of the vegetable section,
David has won this trophy many times over the years.

There are lots more photos on the produce show photo webpage just click any of the photos to take a look. Once we all have broadband we can put bigger ones on and you can print them off, but until then these will give you an idea of the winners. We auctioned the produce afterwards and raised over a hundred pounds for the institute. We also gave prize money to all the juniors who entered their crafts and everyone had a good time and a laugh, which is what Wray is All About...
