Matters arising from previous meeting
- Refreshments during Wray Fair – Another very successful fundraiser, (see Treasurer’s report)
- Uniforms – Also very successful, the children look very smart and seem to like wearing their new fleeces. Daleswear will do another bulk order in Jan 2007, they prefer to do this rather than single orders, order forms will be put in the Friday bags.
- Tracksuits – as yet nothing has been done about this yet. Libby has volunteered to look into a set of tracksuits being bought for use at sporting events. As PTA funds are healthy at the moment it would be apt as Mrs Gillham suggested to “Celebrate what we’re good at”. Look at Bentham sports to supply them and embroidered at Daleswear.
- Re-cycled clothing – To be organised
Treasurers report
Bingo
- This will take place on Friday 16th November at 7-30pm in the Institute. Donations for Line, House and raffle prizes are required. This fundraiser goes towards paying for the Children to go to a Pantomime before Christmas. Kay already has some leaflets for different venues. Sarah has volunteered to do the toiletry Hamper again. PTA will ask Grace Ibbetson to bake a cake for the Christmas Hamper. Jan Forshaw will put together an advert to be put in the free newsletters for Arkholme, Hornby, Caton and Wray. Kevin Dixon has offered to be the caller again.
Mini Scarecrows
- We are struggling for a venue this year as the Tea rooms are not available. PTA will look into using the Institute (Melissa to ask Leslie Wright) or the Sunday school rooms (Sarah to enquire). We will make 400 again with the week commencing 25th February set aside. Templates are to be handed out in the Friday bags. Sarah will order the heads; Janice and Sylvia will organize the assembling.
“No-Water” Policy
- Following last week’s water shortage some clarification was needed on what school’s policy is. Liz Govier has offered to supply school with Spiri-gel so hands can be washed. A governor’s meeting will discuss a procedure.
Resignations
- After many years in their roles Julie and Libby tendered their resignations as Chairperson and Treasurer. Liz will be moving in the New Year so also resigned her position. Gwen will take over as the new treasurer and Liz Govier will be the new secretary.
AOB
- Parent/Governor – A vacancy has arisen
- Questionnaires – Mrs Gillham would like the views particularly from pupils and parents of current reception and also last year’s YR6 to find out how they found the transition into school and onto secondary school
- Lunchtime clubs – Sewing and Photographic clubs have already started and are proving very popular. Mrs Gillham would like to start a cooking club after half term. Libby and Sarah offered to help with this.
- Travel Fund - There was some discussion regarding whether to keep this at £10.50 per child per year or to pay an amount as it is needed.
- School will specify what PTA’s contribution to school of £100 per term is spent on.
- Tracksuits – these will be organised
- School Sports Co-ordinator programme, Mrs Wood would like to carry on with this at a cost of £200
- Life Education caravan – £100
- Arts mark – £300 for day
- Video cameras – not bought as yet
- Kiln – to repair the school kiln would cost too much money
- Christmas material for the sewing club – £25
- Lantern lights outside the front door
- The library area in Mrs Lovell’s room needs a re-vamp
- Playground – Games to be purchased i.e. A big draught set
- Garden – Grow vegetables in large containers, and pay for a gardener to come in.
- Staff requests – £200 for infants, to be spent on puppets and games
- Speeding awareness – Dave Forshaw asked if it was possible to set up a community group to have a meeting regarding this. He will put a note in the Friday bag.
- School Photos – There was some disappointment regarding this years’ photos. Some parents did not realise the photos weren’t compulsory and have ended up with pictures they aren’t happy with. The timing of the session wasn’t ideal as it was in the afternoon and not all children had stayed clean and tidy.
The meeting closed at 9.02pm
